About Us

Scottsdale Citizens Transportation Study Committee (SCTSC) is a small group of folks who reside in either Scottsdale or in adjoining communities who are affected by Scottsdale's transportation planning. Our goal is to raise public awareness of transportation issues in Scottsdale so that the citizens who pay for the choices can more effectively have a say in those choices.

Our core members include Scottsdale citizens, civic activists, journalists, small business owners, and transportation planning experts. We pay taxes here, work and play here, and are raising or have raised our children here. We passionately want to preserve Scottsdale's character and quality of life for our children, for their children, for everyone who lives here currently, and for all our loyal and generous visitors.

We feel that solving Scottsdale's transportation challenges first requires PRECISELY identifying the "problems" that need to be "solved." This identification process cannot be effective without citizen involvement. It also cannot be done by bogus surveys asking questions designed to lead to specific answers, or by hundreds of thousands of dollars of "studies" performed by the very contractors who will directly benefit from the results.

The citizens have to be fully informed about proposed solutions and, to the greatest extent practical, the real costs and impacts of those solutions. Finally, the citizens should have the last say in which of the proposed solutions, if any, will be implemented.

This website contains years of direct efforts by our group to compile information related to transportation issues in Scottsdale. This includes some solutions the City's administration is promoting and advancing without making the citizens fully aware of the impacts, let alone reaching out for our input. There are
links here to additional information published by the City on the City's website, and information from other outside sources. We have also included links to other communities that are experiencing many of the same pressures as ours.

We encourage you to avail yourself of all this information to make up your own mind. Please take advantage of our
contact links to get involved. Communicate directly with the City Council, the Mayor, and City Staff to demand openness in the process by which they spend your tax dollars.

By all means, if you want to be more involved in this or any other public issues please feel free to
contact us. There's always plenty of work to be done!
